Dolphin is a leader in the insurance telematics market. Our solutions allow car insurers to charge
their customers based on their actual driving behavior and the ability to provide them with
additional security, safety, and value added services.
Harald Trautsch and Thomas Pöschl founded Dolphin Technologies in 2001 with focus on telematics
systems for vehicles. With the development of ‘Thermo Call’, a car heating system, remotely
controllable via mobile phone for the German company Webasto AG, Dolphin became an important
player in the fast growing market of vehicle-telematics. In 2007 Dolphin introduced UNIQA Safeline, the very first insurance product in middle Europe, which included, besides security services, individual rates depending on driving habits. In the same year, the Italian MetaSystem Group company, market leader for telematics hardware, acquired the majority shareholding of Dolphin Technologies. In November 2014, Dolphin founders Harald Trautsch and Thomas Pöschl rebought the controlling interest together with an Austrian Investor and are currently focusing to internationalize the company.
Dolphin and its founders are repeatedly awarded, national and international, amongst others with
the ‘Best Innovater Award’ as ‘Best Startup’ from A.T. Kearney, the award for start-up entrepreneurs,
the Austrian National Award for Multimedia and e-Business as well as the US-A Biz-Award.
Our customers are car insurance companies, which we support with telematics applications during
implementation as well as giving assistance in branding of innovative products and services. Included
are safety-services, insurance rates depending on individual driving behaviour and event-based
interaction. Thereby customer acquisition costs will be reduced while customer lifetime value and
net promoter score increases.
